GOLF CART & UTV INSPECTION

North Carolina allows low-speed vehicles like golf carts and UTVs on roads marked 35 MPH and lower. As part of the registration process, you still need a vehicle inspection, just like you would for a high-speed vehicle. This ensures your golf cart or UTV is equipped properly and is safe for roadways.

Let Harrell’s Tire and Auto Service complete your golf cart or UTV’s next inspection. We will check that your low-speed vehicle meets all of North Carolina’s requirements. Make an appointment for your low-speed vehicle at our Gillespie and Hwy 87 locations.

How to Make Your Golf Cart Street Legal

Do you want to make your golf cart street-legal? With the help of Harrell’s Tire & Auto Service, it’s an easy process!

If you want to drive your golf cart on the street, the first step is to make sure its maximum speed is no greater than 20 miles per hour. You’ll also need to register your golf cart with the NC Division of Motor Vehicles and install a license plate. Once that’s taken care of, bring your golf cart to the Gillespie Street shop and we can take care of the rest.

Your golf cart needs to have a basic safety inspection completed. We’ll test the speedometer, horn, parking brake, and seat belts, and make sure your windshield wipers, tires, turn signals, and reflectors are all Department of Transportation approved.

After you have all the steps completed and insured your golf cart, you can drive on streets with marked speed limits of 35 miles per hour or less.

Schedule an appointment with Harrell’s Tire & Auto Service at the Gillespie Street location to get your golf cart ready for the road.
