GOLF CART & UTV INSPECTION
Ask our Gillespie Street or Highway 87 shop about inspection availability for your golf cart or UTV. Have the make, model, vehicle identification number and registration information ready so the team can confirm the appropriate service.
Road-use eligibility depends on vehicle classification and registration requirements. An inspection is one part of the process and does not, by itself, make a golf cart or UTV street legal. Review the requirements below before planning road use.
GOLF CART ROAD-USE REQUIREMENTS
Before investing in a road-use conversion, confirm your vehicle’s eligibility with NCDMV. A standard golf cart is not automatically a registered low-speed vehicle, and adding safety equipment or passing an inspection alone does not establish eligibility.
NCDMV requires a licensed manufacturer to upfit a golf cart into a qualifying low-speed vehicle and provide the required identification and documentation. Read the official NCDMV vehicle requirements for current equipment, registration and road-use rules.
