TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM MAINTENANCE

What a TPMS warning means

Harrell’s Tire & Auto Service helps drivers investigate tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) warnings. A warning may indicate low tire pressure; a flashing light or other message may indicate a system fault. Check your owner’s manual for the warning used by your vehicle and have the tires checked promptly.

Pressure checks and system diagnosis

TPMS does not replace regular tire-pressure checks. NHTSA recommends checking tires monthly when cold and using the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended pressure on the tire-information label, rather than the maximum pressure on the tire sidewall. Our technicians can check tire pressure and investigate sensor or system concerns.

Arrange tire or TPMS service

Tell the shop when the warning appeared and whether tires or wheels were recently changed. Direct sensor systems and indirect systems require different procedures. Contact your preferred Harrell’s location, explore tire shopping or review NHTSA’s tire-safety guidance.
